A Letter From the Elders at Lake Forest

To the Church Family at Lake Forest,

It’s hard to believe that another new year is now upon us. We are excited about 2010 and all of the possibilities that a new year brings. As you know, each year we seek to set a theme for the year to help us focus in on the goals we wish to achieve. We have had some very meaningful and important themes in years past.

2004 – Being A Caring Church
2005 – O Worship the King
2006 – Follow Me, And I Will Make You Become Fishers Of Men
2007 – The Mind of Christ
2008 – A.W.A.R.E. – Always Watching For Anyone Who Requires Edification
2009 – One By One

This year we have selected a new theme. However, we want to remind you that we intend toremember our themes from the past and build upon them. This is important for us if we are to continue to grow. Our theme for this year is “Between The Sundays”. The theme chosen this year comes from the words of Christ in Luke 9:23, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

The thought behind this theme is that of daily living. More specifically than that, it is how we liveour lives from Monday through Saturday. Sunday’s are usually our good days. We get up, dress nicely, come to Bible Study and Worship, and act accordingly throughout the day. However, where many people struggle in this life is on Monday through Saturday. We want to stress living for Christ every day of the week! We want to work on our Christian walk when we are away from our brothers and sisters in Christ. We want to improve on a part of the week that is normally more difficult for us all. “Between The Sundays” will remind us all of our obligation to take up our cross daily and follow Christ.

We as your elders stand always ready to serve and help you in anyway that we can. Please do not hesitate to call upon us. We are at the church building each first Sunday from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. if you need to talk with us, or arrangements can be made for other times.
