Elders

One of the most (if not the most) awesome responsibilities ever given is that of "shepherd" in the Lord's church.  Shepherds must watch over the souls of the Lord's flock...and one day...will stand before the Maker of the Universe to give answer concerning the sheep which were under their charge. Following in the example of the Master Shepherd, Jesus Christ, the elders must see to it that the flock is fed spiritually so that it may grow to maturity in the Lord. The bishops (as they are also called) must also stop the mouths of those who would come in and cause havoc in the Kingdom of Christ. It has been stated: The strength of a congregation can be traced to the strength found in the leadership of that church.

Our elders have selflessly devoted themselves to this great service in the Lord's kingdom. It is requested that when you read this that you will offer up prayer for our elders at Lake Forest and all who serve in this capacity everywhere in the Lord's church. A few passages of scripture concerning the leadership of the Lord's body: Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5, Acts 20:17, James 5:14. Shepherding: Psalm 23, John 10:11-15, Mark 6:34.
